SPOTLIGHT
Every week we celebrate and showcase an amazing biz from our community. We have been so lucky to work with talented and creative women through our own small biz and we want to share the love.
Her candles are modern and refined and boast an industrial edge which separates her from other candle brands. Honestly, her scents are like no other - the Black Raspberry and Vanilla is my absolute favourite and when I light it the whole house smells divine!
Ruby Lights is definitely worth a look - they have subscriptions boxes (perfect for gifts, or even just for yourself) and you can find their candles in lots of stockists around Perth and online.

What are we watching?
Real Housewives of New York
Foxtel
It's no secret that I love me some reality TV. It is purely a form of escapism for me and I secretly covet the women's clothing and jewellery!
We are about 4 or 5 episodes deep into this current season of RHONY and, while I wouldn't normally promote this show as "one to watch" I think there are some really interesting observations when it comes to the Black Lives Matter movement, reaction to Covid and the US Presidential election of 2020.
Firstly, to provide some context for those who haven't seen the show, the narrative is based around a number of "housewives" living in New York City. These women are not your stereotypical housewives; they are extremely wealthy, most of their children have flown the nest and they have a number of assistants that help them run their households.
What is most interesting about this particular season, is that the producers have cast their first ever woman of colour as a member of the main cast. Eboni's inclusion in the main cast is no accident. With the Black Lives Matter movement gaining momentum, it was only natural (and obvious) that there was a lack of representation in the cast of anyone other than white, privileged females. What I love the most about Eboni (thus far) is that she is not scared of making the other women feel uncomfortable; there are many times when conversations are started and some of the other cast members try to shut it down because they don't want to "think about it", or they want to "just have fun", and yet Eboni points out that this is white privilege. She is strong in her conviction that she is not there to educate the other ladies, however she always keeps them in check when it comes to their 'choice' of what they hear or are a part of.
Another fascinating element of this season is the reaction/attitude/handling of Covid. These women seem to be able to live how they want to - still going out and socialising, only difference is wearing masks. Watching how the rest of the world has handled Covid is so interesting!
Observing the impact of the Presidential election and the differing views (including those whom are 'non-committal') of each of the women was telling and offered insight into how Americans of a certain demographic were feeling.
So, although it is certainly not 'high brow' viewing, I would recommend watching a few episodes, for, if nothing else, the conversations and insights into some of the significant issues circulating in New York and wider America, during 2020.
And for the clothes. Always for the clothes.
Who are we following?
Mrs Hinch
I have been following Mrs Hinch for years and I am obsessed! She is the cleaning queen and has built a community of "Hinchers" that love to share their tips and tricks when it comes to cleaning and looking after their homes. Don't be fooled though... there's more to Sophie than just cleaning. She is little quiet on the gram at the moment as she has just had her second "handsomes", but is still sharing great content. Jump on board the Hinch Army train - you won't regret it!
Emmylou Loves
When I started following Emmylou, she had less than 30,000 followers and was producing her own talk show "Social Dot Com". I was like, who is this women with all the confidence??! Well, to watch her grow from then to now has been amazing! This woman has a strength and tenacity that has seen her grow from zero to hero in both the social world and business world. From producing, directing, writing and starring in her own TV shows, to writing cookbooks, to running a super successful women's fashion label (ummm, several fashion labels actually!!), Emmylou is a powerhouse. Absolutely recommend following her and joining the tribe and community she has built. She truely lives her motto "confidence is contagious".
Growing Our Tribe
Grecian is a Perth Mumma to four gorgeous little girls and shares her daily challenges and triumphs through her instagram account. She is a fertility warrior and talks very openly about her IVF journey and working through the trauma of having twins born prematurely, along with the added complications this brings. Grecian is raw and honest, unfiltered and unscripted. She is all about finding the positive things and experiences in life - but also acknowledges that we all face challenges and it's ok to talk about these too. Seriously a beautiful woman who is so strong and resilient. A must follow, particularly if you are in the midst of a fertility story. I wish I had known about Grecian earlier as her story is so similar to ours and I feel a great affinity with her.
